2019 Siliceous Award for Ceramic Excellence

About the Siliceous Award

Ceramic Arts Queensland is delighted to announce a call for entries for the 2019 Siliceous Awards.

Ceramic Arts Queensland (CAQ) is the umbrella organisation for potters and ceramic artists in Queensland and northern NSW.  The Siliceous award is recognition of artistic excellence in ceramics, pottery and sculpture.

Ceramics Arts Queensland is one of Australia’s oldest arts organisations.  It has a long and proud history of fostering and supporting our talented clay workers.  Over the years, many of our members have gone on to become internationally recognised artists.  CAQ holds one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Australian ceramics acquired over many years.

The Siliceous award is a non-acquisitive competition open to members and non-members.  The award comes with a $2,000 first prize. This year's judge is Janet DeBoos.

The Siliceous Award encourages work of technical and artistic excellence in the ceramic arts.  Entries can be in any format, for example traditional technique, conceptual sculptures, or designed tableware.

The artwork should explore the distinctive qualities of clay and glaze with forms and concepts that engage the viewer and encourage a deeper appreciation of the art of ceramics.

To register online for the Siliceous Awards, click the "Register Individual" button at the bottom of the entry form.  Please read the conditions of entry.
