The 2020 Stanthorpe Art Prize

Established in 1972, the biennial Stanthorpe Art Prize is the second oldest art competition in Queensland and is open to both emerging and professional artists and one of the top 10 art prizes in regional Australia.

The Stanthorpe Art Prize is open to Australian artists who have the opportunity of winning one of eleven categories, with prizes totaling $50,000, including $22,000 as the major prize.

Key Dates

  • Entries close 16 March 2020
  • Processing of entries 17 - 23 March 2020 (checking details etc)
  • Judges receive entries 23 March 2020 (judges review and shortlist the entries - they are shortlisting based on the images artists supply in their entry)
  • Artists informed 17 April 2020 (artists have a few weeks to organise shipping/delivery)
  • Judging 2, 3 & 4 June 2020 (judges make their final selections in person at the gallery)
  • Sponsors Preview 4 June 2020 Opening Night & winners announced 5 June 2020
  • Exhibition open 5 June - 29 July 2020
